If I disagree with my supervisor and I am the one signing the engineering plans What is the right way to do? What does ethics say? Just do what my supervisor say or confront him.

    High water table

What are best practices that need to considered for a roadway, storm sewers, water line project that will be designed and constructed in a high water table location? The water table is like 4' below the existing grade. Thanks

    Feet Vs Survey Feet

I've few questions - Probably somebody can shed some insight What unit will the field survey data be? Feet or Survey Feet? I work in Texas and coordinates are in millions. The field data in my office is processed in autocad and then converted to microstation for design. AutoCAD's feet is used...

    Traffic Projection

A park with playgrounds (football, soccer, etc..) is being developed adjacent to the street I am designing. An intersection exists 1/4 mile ahead of the entrance to the park.. I am leaning towards a warrant study but my question is the traffic counts is for existing traffic and how would one...

    roadway over Landfill

thanx for your suggestion and insight. How expensive is aerobic process cost? bridge and surcharge are cost and schedule prohibitive

    Temp. shoring and compaction

Not yet being constructed yet but the engineers has specified the temp shoring. what are the anticipated problem if the temp. shoring is left in place?

    Temp. shoring and compaction

It will hold the roadway built in the 1st phase.

    Temp. shoring and compaction

My roadway is being constructed in a fill embankment. Construction sequence is proposed to construct half width at a time. Temporary shoring is proposed to protect the embanked roadway (12' higher than existing). While doing the second half how would the required compaction at/near the shoring...

    Precautions after Rainfall event

Can anyone share their experience/best practices what are the precautions/test or things to look after, after a rainfall event has occured during roadway construction? for example - rainfall occured while preparing subgrade? Do one need to test for density after rainfall event? 2nd example -...

    Balancing pipe

My concerns is pipe leaking and leading to piping action. In major flood event, the roadway will be shut down. guard rail is specified. No such criteria as how long to drain. will have to hold water until the level in stream come down n release thru flap gates).
