well we all know that noise is "unwanted/unpleasent" vibrations. But, this is almost a laymans answer.
I would like to know what vibrations constitute the "basic notes"? and what makes it pleasent to ears? Further how is that the music revolves around the 7 basic notes?
as a...
SMS,
now iam really perplexed as to what is right after looking at u'r explanation. But now it reminds me of a different problem altogether,i shall first explain it.
Musicians in opera break glasses while playing some stringed instruments, most of them might have heard about it. Well, now i...
Hi Steen,
u'r explanation seems to be very much convincing.
Thanks for the efforts. It would have been of much more help, had u qouted some authentic source (Books/Website......).
thanks again,
with best regards,

If i know the overall acceleration to be 0.3 g, displayed on an analyzer for a frequency range of 10 Hz to 10 kHz. For a shaft rotating at a speed of 2700 rpm, how do i calculate the overall velocity(rms)mm/s.
thanks in advance.

An accelerometer is fit on the bearing housing at an angle of 45 deg to the horizontal plane, and measures an acceleration of 0.3g(rms). How can i calculate the values in horiz. and vertical planes? Further, is there any advantage in mounting the accelerometer in an inclined plane (45deg)?
Dear dgallagher,
thanks for the information, but i have a small suggestion to make. Foll. is the formulas displayed in u'r website,
I think wherever 103 is displayed it's 10E+03, which otherwise could be misleading.
But for the rest thank you,
sicerely,
Kashyap.

Why noise anaysis is preferred in Gear-box as compared to vibration anaysis?
if the above question isn't correct, then i would like to know when noise analysis is preferred to vibration analysis?
I just want to know, if acceleration displayed on vibration analyzer can be directly divided by angular velocity of the shaft in order to obtain the value of veloity(mm/sec)and similarly for displacement(velocity/angular velocity of the shaft).
Hatch,
this is concerned with the roll shape deflections occuring due to roll chatter. To elucidate further, the text matter reads as follows:
The fig.(referring to modal deformation of mill with strip) seems to correspond to fifth-octave-mode of chatter on sheet mills.
After going...
