    Spiral Wound Gaskets, Material Certificates

Dear GR2vessels, Thank you for your comment. The service which these gaskets are intended for is a plain one and there was not specific requirement regarding mats certificates type from our customer. Gaskets were just specified as stainless steel foil plus non asbestos fiber. So, a 2.2 certif...

    Spiral Wound Gaskets, Material Certificates

Dear all, For spiral wound gaskets with 304 stainless steel winding material, what sort of certificate has to provide the gasket supplier, just chemical composition or mechanical properties too? I read over and over the B16.20 and some catalogues from prestigious gasket manufactures and the...

Typical Saddles Height for Horizontal Vessels

Gents`, There is a stress (on the saddle side) that is influenced by saddle height beneath the vessel. Please have a look on Zick method (or BS5500). This calculation determines the minumun height. Of course there are many many stds for saddles geometry. Regards

PSV Sizing - Fire Case Only

PSV`s for fire design depends on what is inside the vessel, vessel dimentions and operation and design conditions. From my understding its selection is more delicate than a std PSV. I recomend you to transfer your query to a PSV supplier,

    Split Reinforcing Pads

Besides, is suggested to orientate the "diametral" seam of the re-pad circunferetially in order to be "caught" by the longitudinal stresses of the shell.

    Does vessel skirt need PWHT?

Matay, Because of the s. steel thicknesses you mentioned, the vessel is expensive enough to justify that the skirt has say its first upper foot made from ssteel too. And forget PWHT.

    ANSI B16.5 Corrosion Allowance

Dear all, I was sure that pressure ratings stablished in ANSI B16.5 implicitily included a 0.25in corrosion allowance and that if this values was exceded, the ratings were no longer valid. Just to verify that, I went thorugh this ANSI and found notihing about this corrosion matter (may be I was...

Nozzle Load : Transfer Piping loads for Saddle Calculations

Sorry to join late this thread. Definitively, nozzle loads has to be considered in saddle design. Besides (unless pretightenning is clearly specified), longitudinal shear loads will be taken by anchor bolts of only one saddle.

    Joint Efficiency acc to UW-12

Dear all, Please help me with the proper interpretation of table UW-12 for class (1) weldments. If a weldment is done only from one side, say with GTAW for the root and SMAW for completion, with comprobable full penetration, can E=1 be used in calculations?. Or this E=1 can only be used when...
