Dear MRUBY
Normally this kind of scrubber works very well. I think there is something working wrong in your scrubber.
Please check the following points:
Reactives injection (NaOH+ Oxidant) has to be located at the top of the scrubber.
pH and oxidant concentration (ORP for example) has to be...
Dear MRUBY
I don't understand why you use an acid scrubber. Usually for H2S and RSH removal, we use one or two caustic scrubber with an oxidant like sodium hypochlorite.
I designed the folowing scrubber :
Material PEHD
Diametre 700 mm
Packing Pall 50 (2") or equivalent (NOT METAL).
Packing...
Orcaa Man, I am not sure that using an oxidant like chlorine dioxide in the first stage is necessary because you can get chloramines which are very odorous and toxic.
The second stage is good.
What are flowrate and concentration at the outlet of your second stage.
May be it is possible to...
I have to mix 750 m3/h dry air (water 0%)@ 60°C with 750 m3/h water saturated air @ 30°C. How to avoid plugging due to SiO2 (from reaction beetween SiCl4 and H2O) + Water.
The pipes and vessel are in PVC.
Thank You
JPPMJ
The LEL temperature dependancy is really empirical.
If the actual temperature dependancy is unknown the following formula can be used :
LEL (t°C) = LEL (20°C)x (1-0.0014(t-20))x 293/(273+t)
LEL in g/m3
T in °C

The flow rate is 1620 Nm3/h, pressure is 4 kPa (g) temperature is 20 °C PH3 concentration is 500 ppm vol and water content is 2% vol
Thanks

I have to remove Phosphine (PH3) from air through a scrubber. I read it is possible to use NaOH solution with an oxidant (NaClO, or H2O2 or KMnO4). Has somebody an experience with this type of scrubbing or do you know another way for removing PH3. (I cannot use thermal oxidation)
Thank you for...
I use FID for measuring VOC concentration in the following way.
1 With fresh air or through an activated carbon filter I adjust the ZERO.
2 I adjust the span with a known reference gas (usualy propane in air at 75 ppm propane)
3 I read ppm in the gas to be measured for example 55 ppm equivalent...
We have built a quencher in Hastelloy C276. The purpose is to saturate a gas (air + HCl 1000 mg/Nm3 @ 200°C) with a 4% aqueous HCl solution. The gas outlet is at 85°C.
After 8 monthes running we watch corrosion on hastelloy C 276.
Has anybody an explanation ?
Thank you
The best way to remove ammonia from air is to use a scrubber with structured or random packing like Pall Rings in PP The scrubber can be built in plastic like PVC or PP or PE.
The diameter of the scrubber is calculated from air velocity (about 1.5 to 2 m/s).
The packing height depends on ammonia...
