I hope I can explain this situation well enough, because it is a bit difficult to explain without a drawing:
A co-worker of mine is doing a study of a possible interference fit for a product we make that is essentially a ceramic tube with a steel mandrel on the inside. The whole assembly goes...
From what I can get from your explanation, is seems like the set-up is correct.
What I do not understand is if the hi-limit is only tripped when the safety valve is shut, then where is the problem? It's impossible to start the kiln with the safety valve shut, anyway. If your only question...
Hi all,
Here's my situation: I have to measure the density of a liquid in my process. The specification is 1525 g/L +/- 2.5 g/L. The instrument that I have been given to measure the density reads from 1500-1600 g/L, in increments of 2 g/L.
I do not feel that the instrument is the right...
My guess is you will be OK, but you may want to post this in the Metal and Metallurgy forum.
I can tell you this: Nitric acid is used for a process called "passivation" that is supposed to restore SS to the passive state and stop corrosion. I'm not so sure about the process, we have had only...
I will try to give a partial answer, because I am not sure if LPG means low pressure gas, or something different. If you are using natural gas, the ratio should be around 2:1, O2 to gas, but I am only basing that on the fact that the ratio is 10:1 will standard air, and there is around 5x the...
What IRstuff said is true. It is difficult for most people to see any type of water as a corrosive substance, but DI water can be extremely corrosive in the right environment.
I belive quark is talking about a situation that is different from the one you are experiencing. It sounds like you...
There will certainly be a temperature drop, especially if the pipe is not insulated. If you need to maintain the 280F, you will have to insulate and add heat tracing. Of course I don't know the system and the chemistry may not allow this, but you could calculate the temperature drop and...
blegaz,
I recently had this same problem, and there are much safer chemicals on the market now. I don't want to recommend any, because I have very little experience, but if you contact your O2 supplier for a recommendation on how to clean for your application, they will help. Be careful...
roker,
I'm not sure of your application, but, normally, if there is a danger of heat and/or gas from a relief valve, the practice is to vent to the outside or to the stack (in the case of a furnace).
I am having some troubles with white spots showing up on high purity Al2O3 that is normally an ivory color. The assumption has been that the atmosphere in the kiln is causing the "discoloration", but I have been unable to prove any significant atmosphere differences. Other theories include...
madhavank007,
I don't know much about your process, but the best advice I can give is:
1. Do not measure anything that you are not using. You will find yourself fixing tranmitters and meters that collect data that does nothing but sit in a spreadsheet somewhere.
2. Do not set your specs...
