Thanks for you comments.
The vendor originally proposed to use water. I do no know the reason for the change.
the diameters are 2400mm (49 mm thick) and 4200mm (85 mm).
Do you mean it is techinically ok to use liquid nitrogen? is it possible to induce cracksof the 304 head during the cooling?
Our vendor is planning to use liquid Nitrogen (in lieu of water) as the cooling method for the solution annealing of ASTM A240-304 Stainless steel cold formed head (2 heads). The head thicknesses are 49mm and 85mm.
Can we use liquid nitrogen as the cooling media?

If the bolting is used for vessel internal (vessel in caustic service). Do we really need to use B7M?
Accoding to S Jones comments above, we do not need to worry about the caustic stress cracking for B7 bolting because there is no residual stress in the bolting material.
We use SA193-B7M/SA194-2HM for Bolts and Nuts in H2S service. How about amine or caustic service. Can we use SA193-B7/SA194-2H for amine or caustic service?
Thanks
We are designing a caustic tower. The caustic solution has ~10% NaOH, ~10%Na2S, ~5% Na2CO3, ~50ppmw Cl, and ~20ppmW NaClO3. It also has about 4% (CH3SNa + CH3SH). The design temperature is 190DegC.
We are trying to use Ni alloy for this tower. But we still worry about the effects of Chlorides...

gr2vessels,
Thanks for your reply.
This compressor also has H2S and CO2, but no free water.
The thickness of SA516-55 plate is about 3". The client's specifications request 200HB Maximum hardness for carbon steel. After PWHT, the hardness of weld, HAZ and base metal should be less than...
guys, I need your suggestion on the materials selection for compressor caseing.
At the begining of the design, the minimum operating temperature is -2C and MDMT is -25C. The vendor proposed SA516-55 for the compressor casing.
Now, the minimum operating temperature of the compressor is -28C...
I have fresh caustic feed pump (metering pump). It has 32% caustic. Can I use Carbon steel for it.
The design temperature 65C. If carbon steel selected, it should be PWHT. right?
Thanks.

thanks for your answer.
Acctually, the client want to use 410SS to save money. Personally, I'd like to use 304SS. I need evidence to support my point. I started my work two month ago. That's the reason I come here.
