You need a stand-alone tool that can do this. I've been pushing CADminer for such issues, especially when dealing with 100s of files. You can take 100s of drawings in, say, one directory, extract the attribute info out into one report, tweak (or integrate other) the data, and re-send to the CAD...
Hi:
You should try www.CADminer.com. Stand-alone CAD extraction tool with lots of capabilities. Also, tt can work both ways, which I think is what you're looking for (data extraction to Excel and Excel to ACAD).

You should check out CADminer (www.cadminer.com), which allows for the automactic importation (via a relational database system) of Excel information right into your drawings. Other programs do this too but CADminer's main capabilities (info. extraction) makes it my choice.
You should also check out "CADminer" which extract all kinds of info from DWG/DXF, and DGN files. It's a stand-alone application which can take on many files at once and extract, e.g., sq. ft. to a spreadsheet. Really neat program that I've been using for a while.
Hi JaredLee:
I have consistently preached using CADminer for issues like yours - especially when dealing with 100/0s of files.

cessna98j,
I've used CADminer before and I'm pretty sure the program can extract your coordinates automatically. If you have CADminer installed, you should scroll and check out the field variables that it can extract - over 100 (X,Y,Z Coordinates included). It's really a neat program. Hope that...
