Hi kikflip,
Negative ??!!!!??
I know it doesn't meet Australian standards, I am in Australia but the design I am working on is for a South African company and they will be building it in South Africa.
Hence the reason I am looking for the South African equivalent.
I work for one of the 2 main manufacturers of Passenger Trains and Locomotives in Australia.
I have used Catia V4 for 6 years and Catia V5 for the last 2.5 years, all to design Passenger trains.
Rallydaz,
You can't project individual bodies of a part file.
The philosphy of V5 is, for instance,
If you have 2 pieces of plate that get welded together,
then you model them as 2 individual parts and insert them
in an assembly and constrain them together.
The philosphy being, when creating...
This sounds similar to the problem I had a few months back.
I was trying varous settings in Document Environments area
in Tools - Options - General - Document - Linked Document Localization window.
We don't have Smarteam either, so I DEACTIVATED PDM Reconciliator, Catalog & Startup, Smartteam...
Hi n3uih,
You have to convert all the SOLIDM solids into SOLIDE solids and explode all the DITTO's for them to be converted sucessfully into CATIA V5.
Hope this helps,
jakey
G'day Nickeaston,
The full Catia (134 modules) costs somewhere in the vicinity of $750,000 !!!!!!!!!
AS you say no company in the world would pay or use every
module available.

Jakey
Hi guys,
Eric N is correct, when you project or cut 3D elements onto your sketch plane they will be yellow in color.
This indicates that they are still linked to the 3D element
you chose to project or cut.
If the original 3D element is modified the projected or cut
geometry will update to suit...
Hi amitkulk,
There is no way that I know of that will automatially rename the sketches, but the sketch number allocated to the sketch by the program is only an identifier anyway.
You should rename the sketches to a name that means something to you.
ie. "Sketch 1" could be "Main...
Hi sahir and tpale,
Could you please explain why you think you cannot add features to a part once it has been mirrored or patterned???
I am absolutey sure you can add features to a patterned or mirrored part.
I don't quite understand how you can't do it !!!!
Cheers,
Jakey
Hi goodlook,
In reply to the above questions and yours,
If you isolate a view it will no longer be linked to the 3D model and therefore if the model changes then the view will not be able to be updated to reflect those changes.
You CANNOT re-link the view to the model therefore the view is...
Hi Sapatak,
In addition to the above,
If you create any views with the "Generate views from CGR"
checked on,you will not be able to create any section or section cut views from these views.
You will only be able to create the normal views
(Front,Top etc.) and detail views.
Hope this...
Hi ajangiz,
I'm not quite sure what you mean but try this anyway.
If you have the Origin of the view showing it will not allow
the view to be reduced in size, just put the Origin
(x,y plane) into No-Show and the view should reduce to the
size of your clipping window.
Hope this helps,
jakey.
