I've recently done a mind map to focus myself on where I want to be long term (ultimately in some cases).
Think about everything !
Family, love, self development, environment, career, financials and throw every idea you have on paper. You might be specific on what you don't want (maybe don't...
Ours has the following - it is for a winch.
1. Check area is clear of any obstacles (e.g. spares / scaffolding)
2. Check the ground floor lift area is safe and barriered off (ours is a single location winch so has a winch bay)
3. Check flashing warning lights are all functioning
4. Check...
First thing. CHILL OUT ! This is a definetly jokey email and this is how I would read it.
You : have you done this thing ?
Them : ha ha ha, not a hope, but don't worry too much about it at the moment. I'll give you a call to explain the situation, then we can discuss.
Your reply is quite...
We have similar requirements for use of BA where I work. It is a mandatory requirement for the job as it would be required in a major breakdown or emergency situation.
Where we have made exception is where employees are not physically fit to do this training. If individuals or management are...
Yes you can deal with it professionaly. If its really not jusitifed wait until he is calm and then have a chat about it with him explaining how it is disruptive to your work.
As an alternative and one which I know has worked really well for a number of people is to walk away. that isn't to...
Its fairly common and I've done it relatively recently.
Think of it this way. You have asked for a modification to your responsibilities which has in some respects happened. You've asked your boss for clarifiation and he has put the ball back in your court to say how you see your role now that...
Your answer looks good to me.
I have been in similar circumstances on a number of occasions and in my experience I have found that if it feels odd, then it probably is.
Your email turning him down looks fine, its to the point, polite but leaves him in no doubt as to your answer. If he does...
Our MCC rooms are absolutely locked and only trained and authorised people who know what they are doing have keys for access.
In the event that someone is called out and could be working on their own then our operators are trained to accompany them re what basic safety rules they need to know...
Certainly in the UK an MSc would not be considered to have the same level of engineering content as an MEng. In many companies they would look for an MEng for its detailed engineering content rather than an MSc which may be more rounded but a bit less engineering.
Definetly try to find out who the people 'who know' are and who you can go to if you need advice.
Get out into the area, introduce yourself and talk to the operators, take everything with at least a bit of a pinch of salt before you really understand the situation. Some people at first glance...
A couple of things I'd offer. Firstly sending an email and copying in someones boss is seriously offensive. It is in effect trying to belittle them infront of their boss by making them look obstructive. From their bosses perspective you will become annoying as they will expect you to sort out...
If you don't ask you certainly don't get. So if you don't ask them it is completely guaranteed that they won't pay for it.
However, if you do want to stay with them long term and feel that the MBA will help in your job (I think its pretty handy for people with no formal management training)...
My monthly report follows this format
Safety
Environmental issues
Performance - tonnes, availability, quality
Overview of any particular issues
Looking forward - anything particularly odd coming up next month.
My 2nd interviews have been for the senior manager to meet me and check I'm not a loony ! It could be down to the fact that an external applicant has to be signed off by a very senior manager. So they might want to check you out before signing the paperwork off.
Definetly ask first, what have...
