    Sulfur Storage

We propose to install a chemical unit to handle approx 4MT of powder sulfur per day. We propose to receive sulfur in 50kg / 500 kg bags. Where can I get safety data on sulfur handling ? I will prefer a website reference . Is it necessary to have conductive flooring for the sulfur handling area

Dimethyl foramide _ Safety /Storage/Price issues

Hi all Does anybody have expereince in dealing with dimethyl foramide ( DMF ) . I am basically intetested in the safety and storage precautions ? Is it safe to handle in drums or unload the drums into a storage tank and then use it from there ? Our daily requirement will be about 340 kg. Who...

    Cation regeneration- H2SO4 or HCl

Gary thanks for your clarification. Can a bed which is being regenerated with H2SO4 be switched over to HCl or vice versa ? I understand the storage tank, the pipeline ,ejectors for feeding the acid will have to be modified. I would like to know whether there will be any problem as far as the...

    Cation regeneration- H2SO4 or HCl

Some cation beds are regenerated with sulfuric acid and some with HCl. Obviously it depends upon the type of resin structure and exchange . I would like to know 1 ) What is the criteria which decides whether one uses a H2SO4 or HCl regenerated bed ? 2 ) Which is the better option from resin...

    Depressuring systems

I think you can estimate the temperature by Joule Thomson co relation. The gas temperature and the wall temperature for all practical purposes can be considered to be the same

Softening vs pH dosing of cooling towers

Scale forming tendency of water can be reduced by the pH adjustment with acid. But this is not a prefered method as it can take water into the corrosive range to the detriment of the equipment and Tower MOC. I would not recommend PH ajustment with acid. Strict monitoring is required. Make up...

    spray dryer vs. drum dryer

In my view , drum dryers are used for large throughput of granulated products. Spray dryers on the other hand can be designed even to handle throughputs in the range of 0.5 - 1 MT / hr. Spray dryers produce fine powder ( spray dried milk powder, detergent powder , some fine chemicals etc. )...

How to eliminate Sulfates from waste water effluents

HCl is not recommended for use in high capacity, high purity cation beds. HCl has a tendency to break the molecular links of the resin particles. So over a period of time the life of the resin bed gets reduced. Hope this helps.

CO2 production from boiler combustion gases

The quantity of CO2 requirement will not justify a only CO2 producing plant and the associated capital costs. From an operating point of view you might be better off by buying out the extra C02. Normally the ammonia urea complexes are stoichiometrically balanced. Either there has been a change...

    Waste water recovery

We are having a problem in the disposal of waste regeneration water from our ion exchange resin system. Presently this water gets mixed with the cooling tower blowdown and and goes to aa neutalising pond where it is diluted , pH corrected before discharging into the municipal system. We are...

    Breather Valve

Demineralised Water ( for Boiler Feed Service ) Tank and Sulfuric Acid ( 98% ) Tank are normally provided with Silica gel absorbers in their vent for moisture absorption ? Do we require any breather valves for prevention of vaccum? Is there any other option other than using inert gas to fill up...
