jt,
You are correct about the education. I am not what many would consider an educated person. I have not taken any formal classes in engineering. I have worked in the fabrication field for the last 22 years and have been involved with code issues for the last 10. I haven't looked at this as...
I would but I am trying to get ready for a joint review with the state and I need to include a static calculation for my sample vessel. My company does not build pressure vessels, but the owner likes to keep our stamp current in case we ever do. The static loading for this test vessel is...
I tried wiring the motor back to 480V and reprogramming the drive accordingly and it worked. This particular motor will not need to run very fast. (as I recently found out) By the way, the drive was set so that the motor rated Hz was 120 and the Max. Hz. was set to 120. Did I miss something else?
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with using a 480V 3 phase inverter and connecting it to a 230V 3 Phase motor? I have done this in the past with no problems. I now have an application where I did the same thing in order to over speed the motor and not loose any torque (V/Hz ratio) and...
Can anyone tell me excatly how a LPF instruction works in RS 5000? I have an application where we are taking a signal from a load cell and passing it through a LPF in the 5000 program. The application is a loss in weight feed system. The problem I am having is that whenever we refill the hopper...
Does anyone have an opinion on whether you should feed a load cell excitation voltage with a linear or switching power supply? I have an application where I am feeding a load cell with 10VDC excitation from a switching SOLA power supply and my raw weight signal has some variation. It seems to be...
I have thought about that. I have done just the opposite in the past where I had a heat controller I was switching very fast and very often and the relay cards were starting to fail so I switched to Triac. Fixed that problem. I may just change to relay cards since I'm not switching that often. I...
I understand everything all of you said and I have actually checked the resistance of the solenoids to see if they are good. My question actually was: If I need to check to see if the card itself is actually sending out voltage to the solenoid, how would I do that? I've tried it and I seem to...
I am having problems with some of our 1746-OA16 cards on a SLC 500 system. I am controlling solenoid valves with this card and they are 120VAC, 25 Watt each. That should put me at .20 amps per solenoid (just shy of the .25 amp rating for each point on the card).I keep having problems with some...
Not sure if this worked, but I have attached a picture of the Motor ID plate. Maybe this will help.http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=e424bb6d-8aed-4268-b6da-b1ae9a8e790f&file=003.JPG
That's what I thought. Al Gore wasn't old enough then to have invented the internet. Ha, Ha. I have placed a call to Baldor and they are looking into it. I did consider contacting our motor repair shop for info as well. I was just wondering if anyone had any additional info. Thanks for the reply.
If I'm not mistaken, the latest version of Logix 5000 has Drive Executive included in it. If you don't have it, I would look at investing in it. It is a very handy tool when trying to monitor and trend drive parameters. Hope this helps.
Does anyone know where I might be able to find a wiring schematic for a Master motor that was probably manufactured in the 40's? I have the nameplate info. It is a 440V 3 phase AC motor, but it has 14 leads. The nameplate also has ratings for 4 different speeds at 440V. This leads me to believe...
