    Siesmic Loading on ducting/piping

Vertical rods are totally inappropriate to resist seismic lateral loads. cross bracing is required.

    Top curb angle

Normally because tanks are not swiss watches and some allowance for shape tolerances is needed. Also the Curb angle acts as a stiffener as well.

    Z245.12 Dual Rated Flanges

Kel1, Sorry I cannot help you but it you may get more responses if you say what the Suject of your questions is rather than "Hi, can anyone tell me if you" as the subject!!!

    Relief Valve Discharge Pipework loads

Thanks for the responses so far but none are really addressing my question. I appreciate the performance is affected by the backpressure and that a stress analysis is required. However I was trying to solicit the forum members experiences with allowable loads on relief valves from the discharge...

    Relief Valve Discharge Pipework loads

RVAmeche, A stress analysis would be undertaken to establish the RV loads from thermal/weight and RV discharge reaction as well as Seismic. What I am after is the Forum's thoughts on allowable loading since using the flange leakage approach could be such that some damage to the RV's...

    Relief Valve Discharge Pipework loads

Hi All, I have a general question regarding Relief Valves. Does anybody know what limits there are as regards the allowable loading generated from thermal and weight effects (plus seismic) which is allowed on a relief valve from the connected discharge pipework such that the performance...

calculating force due to choked flow on Flare

What is chocked flow? Do you mean choked flow?

    Structural Vs. Pipe Dummy Supports

DekDee, If you do not have a weep hole then how would you know if the bend over which the dummy is welded has eroded/corroded and was leaking? Also the weep hole is needed in an "airtight" cylinder to let the welding gasses out during fabrication.

    Pipe stress/loads from installation

XL83NL, Any decent Pipestress program will allow "Cold Pull/Push" in three directions and also rotations as input.

    Static Seismic Analysis Load Cases

Why are you not using the 100/30/30 rule for combining horizontal and vertical seismic effects?

    Structural Vs. Pipe Dummy Supports

Seen plenty of Structural "I" sections being used as anchors at piping bends where you have been able to kick through the web due to excessive corrosion. The benefit of Structural sections is you can see the corrosion whereas for "pipe" dummies you cannot detect the internal corrosion and the...

    ASSET INTEGRITY

bo7winner, It sounds like you want to know some answers so you can "bullshit" your way into a job. Not the way to go. There are far too many BS merchants in engineering positions!!!

    PED Compliance

KVdA, What are you answering No to in Q1? The OP is asking what additional requirements are needed to conform to the PED. "No" as an answer tells him nothing. Also not only does he need to meet the essential safety requirements but the materials need to be either in accordance with a...
