My company does a lot of work for Chinese Installations & I just headed-up the Chinese Audit for the renewal of our Chinese Manufacturing License.
There are a few requirements that we need to bring into play from GB-150, such as chemical requirements for materials and impact testing...
I would also be interested in a feature that translates nozzle loadings to the foundation & checks the local stresses created at the saddle-to-shell juncture as a reult of the combined loadings of wind/seismic/piping.
I currently have to go through quite a process to take this into consideration.
This is good stuff!
I'm a designer & fabricator of highly specified customer vessels & heat exchangers. We deal with a lot of customer specifications. I pretty much take the approach of "If it's in there, I will meet it. If it's not, ...."
For a fabricator, part of the engineer's job is to...
For RTJ gaskets, the hardness will be easy to verify. The problem is that if I apply NACE to RTJ gaskets, then I will have to apply it to metal jacketed gaskets & then I will not be able to verify hardness values.
I am designing building an ASME Code Pressure Vessel per MR0175. The vessel is going to have solid metal RTJ type gaskets used for a Manway Closure. These gaskets are either going to be Soft Iron or Gr. 304SS.
The question is: Do these gaskets need to meet MR0175? I realize that they will be...
Actually, I agree with desertfox. The Design Pressure is the Pressure that the vessel is to be designed to. The MAWP cannot be determined until the components of that vessel have geometry. After the unit has been completely designed the MAWP can be determined or, per UG-99(b) "The MAWP may be...
I'm currently designing a Shell & Tube heat exchanger with SB-111 C68700 Tubes. In Section II-D, Table 1B, (pg. 182) the material is listed as being allowable for Section VIII, Div. 1 units up to a design temperature of 450°F. However, the material is not listed in Table Y-1 & Compress asignes...

My company just received a job for some Shell & Tube heat exchangers that are to be designed per Section VIII, Div. 2. We have designed & built many vessels per Div. 2, but these will be our first heat exchangers. I was looking in Div. 2 & came across Mandatory Appendix 4, Article 4-9 for...
