Hi,
Got a quick question I was hoping that someone might be able to help me with?
I'm analysing some aging data for a R&D plug flow reactor; Its a residence time data set, based on the pulse injection method.
we're happy with the analysis of the outlet curve but due to the nature of the beast...
Hi,
Odd question but hoping you can shed some light on it (and hoping I've posted it in roughly the right forum);
In a lot of engineering departments at universities, a "marcet boiler" is used to investigate the relationship between the pressure and temperature of saturated steam, in...
Many thanks for the replies. Heres some more info with regards to some of the queries posed;
The manufacturer’s manual is a fairly poor affair and not much useful info is obtained when chatting to their engineers either.
The pump casing has the 'function' of each port cast into the back of...
Hi!
I’ve got an odd question and I’m not sure there is a definitive correct answer but I’d appreciate your postulations!
A customer uses a Liquid ring vacuum pump to create a vacuum in a vessel we supply.
Whilst carrying out a service on the vessel recently we were asked to inspect the pump...
Many thanks for that answer rmw! Its what I was hoping for and was what I was assuming for a while! The T range inside this thing can be so large that the properties of say water would change hugely as it passed through it...
Many thanks for everyones Input!
I think we may indeed be in the laminar to turbulent regime so that may be the problem/cause....Caculating the reynolds number for this beast is a challenge in itself...
A lot of our vendors are lab based chemists (Its only a small unit...) whom seem a little bemused by the whole heat transfer...
The vendors tend to want to know U values as if its purely a heat exchanger (so Hot oil in one side, cold water etc in on the other side and measure the temperature changes and flowrates and then calculate U) I was just wondering if it was normal to have U values that vary so greatly from...
We've got an odd design of heat exchanger reactor (Its sort of multi pass cross flow as a best description in Heat exchanger terms.)
When we calculate values for U we get different values for whenever we run the heat exchanger at different stream 1 flowrate, stream 2 flowrates, stream 1 inlet...
Hi!
We've been 'messing' around with a new micro reactor type device.
We're now wanting to estimate the heat transfer coefficients for the device.
It basically a straight etched channel in a sheet of 316L SS. The heat transfer occurs throgh the base of the channel to a utility stream passing...
