    Thread lubricant (preferably dry...)

Thanks all for the recommendations. We may look into the Nitronic inserts

    Thread lubricant (preferably dry...)

I have an application using an 8-32 Stainless screw into a stainless PEM insert. I'm getting a lot seized screws that I think are gauling from too much friction and pressure. I'd like to try reducing the friction with a lubricant. 1. The screw is inside a chassis with a lot of electronics...

    303 stainless screw in SOS-832

Not using any anti-seize at all. Just dry. The threaded connection is within an electronics enclosure and I'm not sure if I can have any fluid in that area.

    303 stainless screw in SOS-832

I'm using a custom screw made of 303 stainless and screwing into a threaded insert made of "300 Series Stainless". Would this be a concern for gauling? if so, what would you guys recommend to compatible material? Thanks

A2 Stainless locknut with 303 stainless male thread.

Ed, these are NOT rolled. The male thread is cut on a lathe....

A2 Stainless locknut with 303 stainless male thread.

We are using a M10 locknut. The material is "A2" and the locking mechanism is a nylon ring at the end of the thread. Commonly called a "Nylock" in our area. The make thread that it is going on is 303 Stainless. Issue: severe gauling/seizing when we engage the locking mechanism. Question...

    rust-proofing tapped holes

I have tapped holes 1/4-20 in steel that are getting rusty. Apparently the supplier cant Zn plate because they are blind and it's an air lock. One thought was to put stainless inserts. But is there a good product that can be applied to prevent rust?

    bonding "Santoprene"

We are trying to bond some rubber trim to the edge of steel sheet (.06"thk) with VHB tape. The tape holds well to the steel but doesn't want to bond to the rubber. The material is "Santoprene". Could someone recommend a good bonding tape we could use?

    touching up "zinc Passivate"

We have a part that calls up "Zinc Passivate" as a finish. The base material is 1018 steel. There was something wrong with the threads and we ran a tap in some of the threaded plated holes to get screws to fit. I'm assuming that this may have removed some or all plating? Is there anyway to...

Dry film lubricant for Steel/Aluminum threaded joint

I have a threaded joint that we are having problems with. The male thread is 304 Stainless and the hole is 6061-T6. thread is 8-32. We are starting to get some failures in the threads (gauling, aluminum shavings...). We continuously use the same steel thread and the aluminum part may see as much...

    High Tensile Strength Plastic

I am looking for a plastic with very high tensile strength for a threading application (8-32 thread). Can anyone recommend something?

    Locking patch for 4-40 screw

We are using a locking patch on 4-40 stainless screws. The patch is applied by the supplier and has a prevailing torque as high as 5 in-lbs. I find that rather high for a 4-40 screws. We have had some situations where we would engage a few clean threads, hit the patch and strip the threads on...
