I have been requested to conduct Rockwell Hardness tests on 1350 Aluminum H12 material. Never have tried to do a Rockwell Test on Aluminum before, and to add to the conundrum, I am working without pre provided specs/standards for reference. Rockwell H, with a 1/8 indenter and 60 load was the...
We purchase a MILD STEEL 1/2-UNC 2B Hex Nut from a reputable supplier. We do not spec a GRADE of Nut. The nuts are getting complaints that there is "debris" in the threads. I cant find any information that states or discusses the "allowable" amount of "specs" or fine tiny bits of metal...
Serious Question:
In the world of threads, can a 3/8-24 SAE nut join and live happily everafter with a 3/8-24 UNF-2A STUD. Or should only UNF 2A meet other UNF's for proper joining and connections.
We are experiencing stripped STUDS/UNF using ESNA/SAE nuts and are trying to find a possible...
Thanks to all for the information. This will get me going in the right direction.
For rb1957:
We are looking at a range of under 2,000 lbs. The choice of the lab, was used as a descriptive word. Having a simple report in writing for our files for reference for comparison was the hope of...
I am in South Mississippi. I would have thought the same thing. All I am looking for is the most simple pull test. Straight pull until break. Record the results. UL gave me a quote that made me want to buy a pull tester and go into business for myself. I did a search, but did not come up...
I have some poly strapping that I want to have tested by an independent source for comparision. Does anyone know of any labs that provide tension testing on poly materials.
Thanks,

I am looking for services to conduct tension tests on poly strapping material. I went to UL and have received on quote, but need another independent source to conduct some pull tests onthis material for comparision of our in house results. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have tried a...
I agree with HGMorgan. Anything that is running that close should be looked at. The only things I miss are the ones I dont look at. "Trust but verify" is a rule of thumb I use.

The customer will/can dictate how the information is styled. One example I have infront of me is a statement on the nameplate under the scematic drawing that says "insulating fluid is NON-PCB contaminated (in caps). The size of the "type" is equal to other line descriptions, meaning it is not...
Thanks Compositepro.
That it too simple. I wish I could have thought of that. Makes perfect sense. I am going to suggest that we at least try that idea to get some data to see if we can make that "technique" work. It might give us another option. Simple, yes, but very good idea.

Thanks UNCLESYD:
We are using a THOMAS and Betts Crimper for 10ga 12ga and 14ga stranded copper wire with hoop/loop terminal connectors. The force of the handle since there is an adjustment is what we are looking for. I have contacted THOMAS and BETTS and have received a quote for this...
I am looking for a horizontal or flat compression device. I am wanting to check the compression force on the handles of our crimpers. We have one in house but the company has gone out of business. Any ideas where I can begin to look for a checker for a crimper tool for the handle force...
Update:
Our new upgraded material is now in house. We begin our QUV testing today. I will have results on this new lot in 22 days and let the group know where we stand.
PS..I have a new post in Polymer Eng if anyone wishes to chime in.
Thank you again to all for your kindness, interest...
