Hi All,
In my current project, I have a few heat exchangers which are stacked. And Iam using Microprotol for design. But the two exchangers have different design parameters. In Microprotol, if H.Ex is stacked, it assumes both has the same design parameters. Iam struck here.
My idea is to...
hi eegyman,
though a late answer, for the first part, answer is yes-use UT. further pls read the below,
Full radiography is mandatory of joints as per UW-11 for
1. All butt welds in shells, heads, nozzles, communicating chamber of unfired steam boilers having design pressures exceeding 50 psi...
etsen,
5 WO /3 Clad should be either WO or Clad. because generally tubes will have zero CA and moreover SA 213 TP 347 is of the composition - 18Cr-10Ni-Cb and CA is not needed. It is very difficult to give CA of 3.5mm to a tube thickness of 1.65mm.
thefury,
you have clearly mentioned "the intention is to discharge at 16.9psig" for the pump and "pressure side, being exposed to pressures greater than 15psig" for the separator and oil eliminator.
To finish simply - As per ASME, pressures >= 15 psig falls under pressure vessel category...
Guys,
Should I do the design for 2 cases and check the thickness for both the cases and consider the maximum?
1)Internal design conditions with external press of 0.175 kg/cm2g and
2)Full vacuum with 300 or 400 deg F
What should I do?
Hi Guys,
This is a tall equipment of about 45m high which consists of two columns with different diameters placed one above the another. The below column is welded to the head of the above column by a cone structure.
Now the entire column is designed for the given condition, But one more...
hi Raf2007,
hope you misunderstood Vesselfab's word "Insert Plate". This is different from Repad.
A part of the shell is cut and welded with a plate known as "Insert plate" which is 2d of the boots dia. Usually IP has a higher thickness than the local shell thickness and the boot hole will be...
Dear SK,
2" hole that too in the elliptical head can be considered as some nozzle if horizontal vessel or some vent nozzle if it is a vertical vessel. so install a nozzle with a blind flange.
Still u can fill the hole with a plate with supportive calculations regarding the area - but pls get...
Hi, MDMT not only depends on temperature, but also on thickness of the base material. The fig.UCS-66 of ASME depends on the material too. pls be specific.
Yes, you should provide the hand calculations. Not all are necessary. This is just a verification showing that the software is right. Two or Three calculations are enough and it should be signed by the Engineer and he will be the responsible person.
Hi Guys,
I have something to get clarified with you experts.
Pressure Vessel handbook by Eugene F.Megyesy, Eleventh Edition - Example calculations for the design of saddles, Page 93, S4(Circumferential Stress) value is -18,279 Psi,
but in the Thirteenth Edition - Page 93, S4 value is 20,000...
Hi cmryu,
In the first place, NOT EVEN A SINGLE TOUCH OF WELDING ROD SHOULD BE DONE ON THE PRESSURE VESSEL AFTER HYDROTEST. Even then, if you have to weld, there are 2 possiblities.
1. Welding is allowed, if you do a second hydrotest after welding.
2. Welding is allowed on the repad, if the...
Hi,
When you measure the flow quantity or volume of the liquid inside, then ID should be used. When you measure just the pipe size, nominal size or OD should be used.
Thanks,
