    Control Valve Design

Max/Nor/Min tells more than just Cv. It also dictates the valve characteristic (linear, equal%, or other proprietary characteristic) required for proper control. In most application, this is intended to linearise the overall control as far as possible.

noise absorption of a tailpipe within a pressure relief system

Kingss. Not sure if you're referring to noise as audible noise, or acoustic induce vibration (AIV). 3dBa/50D pipelength are applied for AIV mitigation. Noise reduction is usually through trim designs or/and insulation.

    Compressor on full recycle

Well, thanks for all. It's nice to have a mixed reaction from everyone.. some agree and some don't to the proposal. At least it's worth the discussion. tkdhwkd: Correct that you pointed out coolers are installed on all compressors. However, most installation requires manual regulating of the...

    Thermal Relief on the line

Try SHELL DEP. I remember something on this in their flare and venting system design section. If I'm not mistaken it's 500 litres of liquid volume and includes the considerations as Guidoo suggested.

    Compressor on full recycle

I'm postulating a scenario actually. Assuming it's a product compressor which delivers to the B.L. Due to circumstances, the upstream unit prior to the compressor has to be blocked in momentarily for a few minutes or at most an hour. I was thinking that in case that the compressor can be run...

    Compressor on full recycle

It's a general question. Anyone with experience operating a compressor (recips or centrifugal machines) on full recycle when the inlet to the compressor is blocked? What are the pros and cons, and also the things that we have to take note of? Thanks in advance.

    Compressor Blocked Discharge

Samiran, Correct me if I'm wrong. You've been having prob with the discharge side of the compressor ONLY? Blocked dischage can occur anywhere along the fluid transport line. And that includes the lines prior, leading to the compressors. In those instances, there's no credit of anti-surge...

Water Dew point Check using HYSYS

I'm not trying to debutt, but your reason for client wanting to continue to use HYSYS is not quite justifiable. What if HYSYS hasn't created the extension? What if the client do not have the extension himself? I trust you must be one from the consultant company, and whatever results you...

Water Dew point Check using HYSYS

Why HYSYS? This is first principal.

TWO-PHASE FLOW IN A FEED LINE

Sizing of two phase flow lines has to be such that the following is met: 1. Pressure drop is acceptable. 2. Flow regime should be in the stable phase, avoid slug flow where possible. Generally, this is related to velocity, the higher the velocity, the better you can avoid slug flow. Check the...

Tube rupture overpressure of heat exchangers

Dear all, Much has been said about the API's 2/3 rule (or the new 10/13 rule) for heat exchangers. And the discussion always resolves around high pressure and low pressure side. But which sides are we talking about? What's the likelihood, or credibility to consider tube rupture relief, when...

    Design temperature for flare system

I find your interpretation on point 2 rather acceptable. But also check the following: a. Whether it's 150degC or 350degC, the piping would very well be below 150# rating, if it's a LP flare. b. Maybe at the higher design temperature, your vessel thickness would still be lower than the min...

    Compressor, and discharge PSV capacity

I think it's not such a bad idea after all to have a 10% margin. It may well cushion future upgrade, if any. Check the rated capacity of the PSV you select, it may also already have the 10% you required.

    HYSYS MDEA SIMULATION

Be careful of software bugs. It's typical when upgrading from one version to another. To check, I suggest, simulate using a lower version, then open the same simulation at a higher version. Results should be quite the same if not similar. If problem persist... contact ASPEN Tech, let them crack...

    Cooling Water Bursting Disk

Interesting.. fqureshi. Almost similar situation as mine. But I don't quite understand what u meant by "drip pot and U seal". Mind providing me a sketch? Send to aikmeam@hotmail.com Thanks.
