I believe it is possible to have the configurations you are looking for using a design table. But, I think you have to use SmarTeam or Enovia in order to handle the configurations in the context of a catalog.

You can turn off these "blue frames" in the property sheet. But, these frames will not print, they will only show on your screen or in any screen grab. File/Save As for dxf, cgm, pdf, etc. also will not show these frames.
