Hi, maybe someone can help me please.
Talking about low carbon Mn-Ni-Mo steels, i.e. SA-508 Gr.1A.
Forged material especially.
I am looking for articles and papers, about the effect of different C-Mn balance only (no through Nb, V, Ti additions) on the impact properties.
I am looking in the...
Good morning to all, maybe you can help me please.
I have to apply the ASME BPV Code 1995 Ed. through 1996 and 1997 Addenda on a job.
I need to know if ASME SA-312 1995 Ed. Addenda 1995 is valid also with the Addenda 1996, 1997 of ASME BPV Code, of if it has been revised.
Thanks in advance...
32chevy,
As suggested by berkshire, Feroxyl test can be used to detect free iron on surface of Stainless Steel (SS).
A possible cause of iron oxides at welds could be also the welding consumable used, if not appropriate the local Chromium content could fall down and avoid the formation of...
mrfailure: sorry, probably I didn't translate correctly the term from italian language.
What I mean is the measure of the electric resistance, to get the hardness value of the material.
This method is used for example by the portable hardness tester Ernst Handy Esatest

jimsan,
From my quite short experience, you don't need the same quenching equipment used for quality heat treatment when you perform water quenching after forging.
It's enough that the quenching bath has enough capacity to rapidly cool the forging, to avoid/limit the presence of intermetallic...
Good morning to all,
I need to perform hardness check on some item using a portable Hardness tester.
The test shall be in accordance to an International Standard, ASTM would be the best option.
I found two possible methods:
- impedance
- resistivity

hello, I read this thread carefully, the list of approved manufacturers that you add in your reply was very interesting.
Do you know if there is any sort of list (official, unofficial) - somewhere in the web - updated at 2011?
Thanks, regards.
Good morning to all,
We are manufacturing a red tee, the dimensions are OD 508x20.62WT and OD 457.2x19.05 WT.
The material is ASTM A234 WP11 Class 2
The heat treatment is normalize and temper, with air cooling, as per Code.
The heat treatment parameters are:
-normalization, soaking...
