Hello,

I am trying to trouble shoot a gas station pump that is experiencing reduced flow rates. The suction pump is located at the dispensor and is drawing from an above ground tank. I suspect that the tank is too far away and line/fitting losses are causing insufficient pressures at the pump inlet. I am running a calc to see what the line losses should be but I am having trouble finding pressure drop values for the gas pump shear shut-off valve. It is a Tokheim Model 52 Pressure Regulator valve. The Tokheim tech support is clueless, and I have not been able to find any data on comparable valves. The valve is a poppet type that opens to allow flow to the dispensor when it senses a 1" vacuum on the valve. Line pressure holds the valve closed when the pump is not drawing a vacuum. The valve is 1 1/2" size. Any guidelines or data on pressure drop through a shear valve would be appreciated.
