Modicon 3240 & Wyse -185ES communcation

(OP)
I need to connect a Modicon 3240 controller to a Wyse-185ES monitor and keypad.  I cannot locate any documents on the 3240 to get me started.  Has someone else done this?  Can anyone help?

RE: Modicon 3240 & Wyse -185ES communcation

are both a serial based unit ? Is one DTE and the other DCE ? if so, a normal serial cable would interface them, however I don't think it will be that simple (but ya never know)

The 3240, you could as an "interem" step, use a PC's com port and "hyper terminal" to access it, this should be a normal cable, and in hyper-term you can "knock on the 3420's door" with 3 taps of the "enter" key (a general "are you there" request in serial connections).

Or are they using other style coneections for these ?
