What is the size of pipe with length and diameter of some of the proposed pipeline routes? Also, what would the approxiamte cost and type of pipe used? Could we calcualte headloss for a route, and if so how? What are the numbers on gates and bends on such a project?

RE: Caspian oil piplines constuction and fluid dynamics

For determining the optimum size and consequently the hydrodynamic performance of a pipeline, your best approach would be to initially obtain a pipeline size from a parametric study using one of the commercially available steady state hydraulic analysis tools.

However for a complete analysis, you would be advised to employ a transient analysis tool which would provide a detailed pipeline pressure profile, liquid handling characteristic and other peretinent information for optimising the pipeline and designing the downstream reception facility.

I work for a specialist company that provides engineering services for the design and installation of marine pipelines, not only for oil and gas applications but also for demanding special design considerations such as high pressure, high temperature, deepwater, arctic service or aggresive fluids. Our experience includes a number of pipeline design projects in the Caspian Sea.

If you require further technical assistance for flow assurance and design of your pipeline, you may e-mail me at:
