how to protect the error amplifier of feedforward amplifier

hi.
I have a question about RF feedforward amplifier design, how to protect the error amplifier? Sometimes, the first loop canceal is not too good, so the error amplifier input power is very big,the error amplifier output transistor sometimes is damaged.
I try to use detector to monitor the input power of error amp and try to shut down it,but not fast enough.
