Can we add drop panle in a Flat soild slab, at an edge beam

RE: drop panels

Yes, drop panels are included along slab edges at column in many flat slab designs.  If you have perimeter concrete beams, the punching shear from the column is not as critical so the primary use of the drop panel would be to add depth to the slab and reduce negative moment reinforcing.

RE: drop panels

Drop panel can also transfer more moment to the exterior column... as an additional note... for depth of drop panel, I usually use a thickness approximately equal to that of the slab...

RE: drop panels

Also find out what depth of beams are generally used in your area to form the slab - and make the drop depth a multiple of that.
