I am leaping over the ocean here.

I have a contact in Ukraine who has invested in his own carbide plant. He also would like to do some pipe rehabilitation projects for municipal authorities.

I am a chemical engineer with a bit of experience, and I would like to start up some sort of venture in bringing the new equipment to new Ukrainian industries (I am a Ukrainian native). Also, I may be interested in doing some consulting over there, also. Possibly, would like to distribute Ukrainian-produduced goods in the U.S.

Where do I go from here? I don't even know where to start...Can anyone advise me on this?

Thanks,

Veta

RE: International consulting

Here in Canada we have several agencies devoted to developing export markets for smaller companies. The Federal Business Development Bank is the main one.

I would assume that you are in the US and that there are some similar agencies that provide this sort of service as well. Try the Small Business Agency first.

See the SBA web site http://www.sba.gov (main page) or http://www.sba.gov/managing/marketing/intlsales.html (international main page)
