Modelling blast vibrations

Modelling blast vibrations

Modelling blast vibrations

(OP)
Hello,

I am working on a project where I am trying to model blast vibrations from an open pit mine and their impact on a nearby embankment.  Does anybody in this forum have any experience with such a situation.  ANy programs references you can suggest.

Appreciate any help in this regard.

RE: Modelling blast vibrations

Have you done a web search with Google?  What references have you reviewed?  What specifically has you "stuck"?

A google search revealed a book "Blast vibration and control" by Charles Dowding and several programs on the EJGE site; however I am not familiar with many of them and thus want some guidance.

RE: Modelling blast vibrations

Try these references:

Nichols, H. R., Johnson, C. F., and Duvall, W. I., “Blasting Effects and their Effects on Structures,” Bureau of Mines Bulletin 656, 1971.

Richart, F. E., “Foundation Vibrations,” ASCE Transactions, v. 127, part I, pp. 863-898, 1962.

Richart, F. E., Hall, J. R., and Woods, R. D., Vibration of Soil and Foundations, Prentice-Hall, Englewood Cliffs, NJ, 1969.

That should keep you off the streets for awhile -

RE: Modelling blast vibrations

I do that on a daily basis.

Go to my website to the Tech Talk page.  There is a paper there on Construction blasting vibration (same technique for mining).  It explains formulas, etc.  There is also a biblio for other information.
