We manufacture electric water heater heating elements and are looking to change the element sheath material from 800 to 840 stainless. Does anyone have experience using 800 or 840 stainless in flowing water at 210F? I have stress corrosion data (to ASTM G36) on both materials but do not have a feel for how this relates to service life in our application.
