Transparent & high heat

Transparent & high heat

Transparent & high heat

(OP)
I am looking for a material that is transparent and does not deflect @ temps below 150C.  The piece only needs to be 200 x 100 x 15mm.  Something with Lexan's strength and transparency and can withstand heat like ultem (and of course, the cheaper the better!).  It can be slightly translucent; Ultem would be ideal, but 10mm+ it becomes too opaque

RE: Transparent & high heat

Your best bet is probably to check out GE Polymerland.  I'm not sure what their direct website is, but you should be able to find it either through GE's home page, or doing a search.

RE: Transparent & high heat

There are several choices : (1) APEC from Bayer or INSPIRE from Dow are high-heat Polycarbonate Copolymers specifically made for PC-behavior (and clarity) at high temperatures. (2) TOPAS from Ticona is a Cyclo-Olefinic Copolymer with excellent clarity but the mechanical properties are somewhat different (less tough). (3) ULTRASON and ULTRASON E from BASF are Polysulfone and Polyethersulfone, respectively, and are more expensive.
