Desktop vs Laptop for EMC Compliance testing

Desktop vs Laptop for EMC Compliance testing

Desktop vs Laptop for EMC Compliance testing

We are investigating the use of a Laptop for EMC compliance testing.  The standards do not reference the requirements specifically around this issue.  In the past laptops were not compatible performers to desktops, and the EMC signature from them was typically non-compliant.

Now the laptops have evolved to a state where they are compatible with desktops and present may advantages to the use of a desktop for EMC testing.

I have evaluated this issue and feel it is expectable, but would like some input from my colleagues on the topic.

Any experiences or thoughts would be valuable to our company’s choice to pursue this issue.

Thank you in advance for your input.
