Sour Gas Absorption Column Design

Sour Gas Absorption Column Design

Sour Gas Absorption Column Design

Hi,  I am in the process of designing a acid gas removal system for petroleum plant. I was wondering where i might find the latest equilibrium data for absorption of H2S in DEA; and or Absorption Column design for a countercurrent, bubbletray, H2S/DEA gas sweetening absorber?

RE: Sour Gas Absorption Column Design

This is a complicated subject. Even the choice of amine or other sweetening system requires a detailed study of the  gas to be sweetened, the operating conditions, the sweet gas specifications, the ambient conditions, the environmental standards and the utilities available.
If you need a consultant to help you with this process, contact me.

Even I am in a dire need of such designing procedure and data, if you find it can you pl. let me know of the same. as for the DEA-H2S system you can approximate it using MEA-H2s system, the data for which are present in the latest edition of Perry's handbook for chemical engineers.

You can use DESIGN II for Windows at www.winsim.com to design sour gas columns using single / mixed amine for H2S / CO2 removal.

Huntsman chemicals has a program to give a rough estimate, the use WinSim to get the detailed answer.
