Hi,
I will like to know whether this much used detail is practical or not.


1. The detail on the site is nowhere to be seen in any published book to BS8110 code as far as I am concerned. Reinforced Concrete Pitched roof of any kind (lean-to, gable, hip) is just absent from so many text books when RC pitched roof is so common. Are there some official site, textbooks that goes into detailing of structural elements like eccentric base, eccentric combined base, pitched gable roof, winders to staircase or anything that goes just after the common and standard.
2. I found this detail at the apex in a structural plan that seemed more realistic but again no reference anywhere other than the engineer who has drawn the plan:

Here the engineer seems he is breaking the sharp angle where the two wings of the slab meet to enable an easier form for the carpenter to work yet we will have much concrete in tension without any reinforcement
3. This is another departure from the typical detail where the edge has been thicknened thus. Reason unknown.


I will be most grateful to have any source references regarding pitch roof detailing.

I have note that in the typical detail which is much akin to staircase detail the bottom bars become top bar on either side. Not said in the detail is that sometimes this mean that in many instances we are having the main bottom and main top bars ACROSS the shortest side (Lx) and the top bar should be 1/3 of the longest side. Next the muched used detail is rarely applied in local engineer drawing in term of the anti-crack bar. It is sometimes 600mm as per example below.


I am also thinking about casting such slab in term of difficulty that the concrete supplier will have to keep up the concrete from slipping and developing holes within as in most case here the contractor does not use double shuttering for pitched roof.
