Multi surface friction calculation
Multi surface friction calculation
(OP)
Huh. Sometimes something that should be simple is not necessarily so.
Can anyone tell me what happens to a clamping force when more than one sheet of plastic is clamped in the vertical plane?
Clamping force for one sheet is 500N/.3=1667N, but for multiple sheets is it still the same? Having a brain fart.
Can someone clear the fog.
Thanks.

Add a second, a third, etc. plate between the table and the first plate.
Does the weight change?

Imagine a single block and the clamping force is 167N as you say, that works fine between the clamp faces, now replace that with another block, but this block is twice the weight of the single block and the clamping force stays the same, so will the clamp still hold the block or will the block slide?😁👍
