Dear Team

Please advise if anyone has experience in conducting welding repairs to 2032Nb Casting material. Currently we ongoing to replace the HMU outlet manifold however due to cracks currently on the Bull Ts, I am currently researching ways to conduct temporary repairs.

RE: 2032 Nb - HMU Unit Repairs

As one source suggests,

Weldability

MTEK Super 20-32Nb exhibits excellent weldability by all welding processes. For shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) use UTP-2133Mn or Inconel 117 (ENiCrCoMo-1) filler metal. For gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) and plasma arc welding (PAW) Metrode 21.33Nb, Thyssen Thermanit 2133, UTP-A2133Mn or Inconel 117 (ENiCrCoMo-1) are acceptable. For maximum rupture strength, use Inconel 117 or Inconel 117 filler metal. Preheating or post-weld heat treatment of the welded joint is not required.

The only cravat has to do with how long the material has been in service and how aged it is. This is likely to complicate matters and may require preheat for aged material.
