When to use a N4 or N10 air breather

When to use a N4 or N10 air breather

(OP)
Hello Everyone,

I'll like to ask your support based on your expertise on Composites. I would like to know when I should use a N4 Breather or N10 breather for bagging and curing purposes. At the moment we use N10 Breather on parts made of Epoxy prepreg cured on the oven under vacuum of 22"Hg up to 25"Hg this is also used on parts made of Phenolic prepreg also cure at the oven under vacuum at 22"Hg up to 25"Hg same material used for Autoclave cure parts under 50psi up to 70psi of pressure.

I think parts cured under vacuum using Epoxy prepreg could be bagged using a single or double layer of N4 breather this effort could reduce waste and cost since N10 is more expensive than N4 even using double layers of N4.

Is there anything I should worry about? Should I stick to N10? any considerations should I take? Am I not seeing something that you probably do?

Your support It's really appreciated, in order for me to keep learning more about Composite Materials.

Best Regards !

The breathers are the same except for thickness. It should be fine. One layer of N4 could also be fine. It depends.
