Rule of Thumb Regarding Sheet metal

(OP)
Hello,

I am new to sheet metal. I was wondering if sheet metal holes can be reused if already been use. Lets say for example, it shall use the same screw size, but of a different screw. How about Self-tapping screws that are trilobular?

I appreciate the guidance. If any other notes or tips, please do help me understand more. Thank you

Thread aren't formed in typical sheet metal applications - the screw pitch is larger than the metal thickness.

It's theoretically possible; old-fashioned electronics used to use sheet metal chassis and if one were careful about torquing, the assemblies could be reassembled many times.
