Motion Capture Device Help

I am attempting to create a device that I am able to attach to something (my finger, a toy car, etc.) that I can connect to an online program and that will draw a line in a digital 3d plane. What type of device should I use and how should I incorporate it into a digital program that will output desired results.

All planes are 2D, unless they're surfaces and not planes

As for 3D in general, you need at least 2 cameras to capture 3D information, but you can pick whatever device you want, like LEDs or specific colors that can be filtered for.
