50hz or 60Hz? Grundfos pump CHI 4-60 A-W-G-BQQE

50hz or 60Hz? Grundfos pump CHI 4-60 A-W-G-BQQE

50hz or 60Hz? Grundfos pump CHI 4-60 A-W-G-BQQE

(OP)
Machine has 3 devices, a pump, a fan, and a compressor

1) Pump tag say 50Hz 3X220-240D/380-415Y / 60HZ (this section is blank) Model 4J508006

2) Fan tag says Ziehl Abegg FE050-VDD.4I.6
3' 400V +/- 10% D/Y 50Hz

3) Cooling compressor tag says 460V 3-60Hz 400V 3-50Hz

Can I run this system on 460 volt 3 phase 60Hz ?

Will pump work ok? or because 60Hz section is blank can it only be run 50 Hz?

Fan I can replace if it burns out lol

Previous owner was running it 400V 50Hz

Thanks for any help

RE: 50hz or 60Hz? Grundfos pump CHI 4-60 A-W-G-BQQE

The Volts per Hertz ratio must be observed.
The convert from 50 Hz to 60 Hz, multiply the 50 Hz voltage by 60/50.
Thus 400 Volts @ 50 Hertz will run on 480 Volt @ 60 Hertz.
460 Volt rated motors are almost universally supplied from 480 Volt/60Hz systems.
WARNING
The motor will draw the same rated current.
The motor will run 60/50 RPM faster.
The rated torque will be the same.
CAUTION; Centrifugal Pumps and Fans will draw quite a bit more current running faster.
You will probably need to throttle the discharge of both the pump and the fan when running on 60 Hertz.

thank you !
a bit confused about the fan motor but will run them 60Hz and see what happens

You may drop the current draw on both centrifugal pumps and centrifugal fans by throttling the discharge.
The worst case that I have encountered was a poor design on a 60 HP dust collection system.
We cut a slot in the discharge duct and inserted a flat plate.
We had the discharge restricted a little over 50% before we got the current down to an acceptable level.
Setting up agricultural pumps it was common practice to install a valve in the discharge line.
The valve would be turned down until the current was acceptable and then the valve handle would be removed.
