Abaqus Cae - Contact Crack under compressive load
Abaqus Cae - Contact Crack under compressive load
(OP)
Hello
I'm trying to simulate an open hole (2D) with a crack, submitted to a compressive load. I'm trying to estimate the Stress intensity factor in this condition, however, I have an interpenetration of the elements from each side of the crack, as you can see in Fig 2. I tried to generate a "general contact" for the whole structure, but it does not work. For a tensile load, it seems to work correctly, but it's very weird for compression. Does anyone can help me to generate the contact?

Kind regards

RE: Abaqus Cae - Contact Crack under compressive load
The tensile load image doesn’t look like a typical crack opening displacement.

Thank you very much for your help. @SWComposite Indeed, I didn't plot the displacement 1:1. I'm also working to fix the mesh, it was just an initial attempt to model the problem
@FEA way: I selected all options in F-output, including COPEN. However, the COPEN wasn't computed. Besides, as you can see below, the CPRESS is zero. Does it mean that the contact is not correctly generated, right?
Kind regards
