Hellow eng-tips users. I have a question and I need your help. In Architectural drawing when a column is loaded eccentrically or a column supporting beam on it's edge, what is the right way of modeling it in ETABS? Can we ignore the eccentricity and model it center to center beam- column connection ? In this case the span dimension, beam position will change from the architectural drawing. Or it should be modeled in ETABS as it is in the Architectural drawing with eccentricity which is column supporting beam on it's edge ? In this case I know insertion point or link can be used. But between insertion point and link which one is correct to use? or there are some other way to do it correctly?
You can see attached image for better understanding. You can see how beam B3 is resting on the edge of the column C7. So in ETABS if I join B3 to the center of C7 then it will not be in the original position what is given in the drawing.

For frame objects (i.e. columns) you can change the insertion point which might be helpful for this scenario. Or you can add extra nodes along the beams where the columns are offset and model that eccentricity.

@rscassar I did not understand your second option. I mean how can I add extra nodes and model the eccentricity ? Can you please explain ?
