WBSL Level IV Major Project Write Up

WBSL Level IV Major Project Write Up

WBSL Level IV Major Project Write Up

Anybody willing to share tips/pointers/examples from their major project write up? Mine has been kicked back from NICET twice now, and I am starting to get a little frustrated. I would liek to make the third time the charm!

RE: WBSL Level IV Major Project Write Up

Here's the rough outline of mine:

1. Overview
1A. Describe project - building size, construction type, owner
1B. Describe role - I was RME, how many people were supervised, safety implementation, bid process, budgets
1C. Describe fire protection types - special hazards, dry pipe, wet pipe, standpipe, fire pump
2. Task Review
2A. Describe technical challenges, BIM coordination, communication methods
2B. Describe team players, who was supervised and their roles
3. Technical Specifics
3A. I listed specific brand name of manufacturers' products used and what products were used.
3B. I described my specific design decisions that were made such as to use both an express standpipe riser and low pressure standpipe riser with PRV for a high rise to avoid pressure reducing valves
4. Review and Approval
4A. Details about who the AHJ is and process for approvals/permits
4B. Details about owner approval, consulting engineer/architect
5. Installation
5A. Review schedule, fabrication work flow, installation strategy, etc
6. Completion
6A. Acceptance testing/ AHJ approval

My project was about 1 MM sqft and required several technicians that reported to me. Your project does not have to be so large, just make sure you explain how you had a senior role in the project.

Thanks for the input MGXFP!

RE: WBSL Level IV Major Project Write Up

From my experience, I received my Level IV back in the 1990's, I remember the write up and and it was long. Four type written pages because they will want to see the details and not just a paragraph or two.

SprinklerDesigner2--Thanks for the input. I believe that is my issue-not enough details. I am going to try and re-write the whole thing this weekend, and add details/wording, and see how it shakes out...

RE: WBSL Level IV Major Project Write Up

I sincerely wish you success! I do not yet know from my own experience how difficult it is, but I have already read various stories here, including yours. So far, I am only a beginner, and I am not preparing such an extensive and detailed project, but I understand that I still have a lot to learn. Now I am trying to write my architectural project, the prototype of the future building. I have very limited deadlines, I feel that I will not be able to manage without the help of Edubirdie. Recently, I read an edubirdie review and made sure that this is not cheating, but a legal service. Therefore, I will probably ask for help, or I will revise my project one more time (yes, once my project was already rejected). In short, good luck to both of us!

RE: WBSL Level IV Major Project Write Up

I just passed the Level IV exam... if I am reading the work experience page correctly do I only need to send an updated personal recommendation, work history and major project write up?

RE: WBSL Level IV Major Project Write Up

FPdesignsvc, congratulations on passing! What did you think about the difficulty of the test?

When I submitted mine, I had to have the updated work verification, letter of recommendation, work history, and major project write up. Since it is all online now, it pretty much guides you through the process. When I did my major project write up, I had it kicked back twice, asking for more details. Third time was the charm. Moral of the story; be verbose!

RE: WBSL Level IV Major Project Write Up

DennisR4, Honestly I scheduled the test thinking that I would most likely fail thinking the questions would give me insight on how to study further. I even ran out of time with 6 questions remaining and the last few that I did answer; swiftly read and answered seeing the time end. Tricky questions all the way through for sure which bogged me down. I think if you did well with Level 3, have some managerial knowledge and how to get around the code Including FM Guidelines then you could most likely pass level 4. Time management in this test is key, it sure passes by quick. Needless to say I was pleasently surprised :)
