6a, 14a and 17g API Slurry Testing Viscosities

Looking for some input on API Slurry Testing, can anyone tell me why API Class 2 Slurry Mixes have different Viscosities 6a 100 Secs through a marsh funnel, 14a is 70 Seconds and 17g 45 seconds, having been doing this testing a few years now and always seem to have the same issues with the larger sand particles dropping out on the 50 and 70 second slurries, I find there seems to be an unwillingness to allow the slurry gel to be thickened to a 6a 100 second as it makes the slurry not code compliant if testing to 14a or 17g. Can anyone shed some light or thoughts on this

There might be a technical reason for it, but there's a good chance that it's just because 6A, 14A, and 17G are written by different committees who sometimes don't consider aligning with each other.

If you see a problem with the 14A and 17G requirements and think the 6A way is better, then you can try contacting the API standards staff and/or committee chairs to recommend changes.
