Can anybody inform me if carbon equivalent equation in API 5L can use in ASTM A179 tubes ?

You would use those tubes in some equipment, right? That equipment would have a design code. Get carbon equivalent from that code.

Every carbon equivalent formula has it's own guidelines. Be careful not to use the guidelines for one Ce with a different formula. The outcome isn't usually "good".
