Parking Grades more than 6%
Parking Grades more than 6%
(OP)
HI,
I am working on existing 3 parking stalls which will get converted into 1 VAN accessible and one normal parking. in efforts of making VAN accessible stall compliant with ADA grades standards I ended up doing adjacent normal parking about 6-7% in cross slope and 1-1.5% directional slope. would it be a problem for people? or against any provision made in the code?

RE: Parking Grades more than 6%
7% is steeper than desired for a cross slope, for operating car doors and shopping carts. 4% is maximum desirable. And 7% is about maximum desirable for longitudinal slope. (Local codes limit parking lot grades in any direction to 5%, but that's probably due to snowy and icy conditions much of the year)
