9% Nickel plate and GTAW (TIG) Welding

I'm in the process of developing a WPS for 9% Nickel plate, however there has been some feedback in regards to the possible introduction of magnetism to the plate by using the GTAW process. Can anyone elaborate please, I've never heard of this before, also is the a process to ensure this doesn't happen. All previous experience has been that the plate in question could have magnetism but not from the welding process?
