Hello,

I'm about to embark on a project to automate a reactor and we'll be using PlantPAX. When reading through the manuals and other application in our plant, I'm a bit confused about the Equipment Modules versus Equipment phases. My understanding is that Equipment Modules put different bits of kit in certain states but the purpose isn't to implement states like hold or complex sequences within each state. However in the current plant most dosing is done with Equipment Modules rather than Equipment Phases.

Would anyone here have experience in this and how to implement and use equipment modules? Take for example dosing into a reactor as an example. Would it be an equipment module or an equipment phase that controlled an equipment module(s) to perform a function. And even then, why have an Equipment Module when the Phase could put the equipment in the correct state to begin with.

Thanks in advance.
