liquid ring vacuum pump

Two questions about liquid ring vacuum pump
1. if the liquid ring pump is not equipped with by-pass control, when gas stream is much lower than the pump working curve, will the pump be damaged?
For example, flowserver LPHX45008, 1740 rpm, at min. suction pressure 33 mbara, dry gas flow is 50m3/h. Gas from process is only around 5 m3/h. What will happen with the pump?
2. Condensable flows into the pump. Some articles say that liquid ring pump is designed for get rid of non-condensable, there must be a condenser upstream the pump to remove the condensable as much as possible. Some says, the condensable condensing in the seal liquid increases the pump capacity.
Which opinion is correct? One of the our systems has no condenser, can I install a liquid ring pump?
Thanks in advance.

RE: liquid ring vacuum pump
1. It depends on the pump design, many will tolerate this by basically boiling the water, some designs don't like it though.
2. It depends, is your condensable missable in water? What is the boiling point of your condensable? Are you easily able to remove it from the water?
Lots of details.

Ed has covered Point 2 well, but consider also the heat balance. Do you want the latent heat to come out in a condenser or in the liquid ring pump?
