Need help while defining friction in 2d halfdisc bar contact problem

I am trying to simulate half Disc placed on a bottom slab subjected to both normal and frictional loading. In the first case, I have applied only the normal load and got the stresses value. For the second case to get the frictional force effects I have applied a tangential load at the node just above the contact point on the disc combined with the normal load in the same step(step-I). But in the combined load case also the stress field in the bottom bar is not changing and the tangential load effect is not transmitted to the bar. I am not able to understand how to apply the tangential load so as to get both normal and frictional effects on the bottom bar.
