Dear All,

I am looking into the selection of the sizes of the control valves manifold isolation block valves on either sides. Do we select these valves to be always equal to the main piping line size or we some times tend to make them equal to the same control valve size knowing that control valve size is typically one or two sizes smaller than the main pipe size.

What about the case of future expansion, don't you think if we select the block valves sizes to match control valve size, we will be adding more future cost in case control valve is needed to be replaced with larger Cv requirement and with the need to replace these block valves as well.

Also other factors such as vibration, mach number, rho.v^2 may induce going on the safe side to select the isolation block valves to match the size of the larger main piping line size.

Appreciate your valuable views.

Regards,
