I am designing the cable trench for 8 direct buried cables (16 circuits) for a solar farm project. It is DC main cable NAYY 300mm2. Each cable carries 268 A dc current, continuously. Both "+" and "-" carry the same amount of current, which is obvious for DC.

Question 1: How am I suppose to size the cables with the optimum arrangement and spacing between each cable, that guarantees each cable will carry 268A DC minimum?

Question 2: is there a code that talk about DC cable direct buried?

thank you all.

Search this blog for "duct bank design"
DC and AC amps calculate exactly the same when doing wire size calculations.
The US NEC does not separate DC from AC as far as wire sizing is concerned.
I can not speak for the IEC world.[wink]
